Serendipitously, we have each chosen movies by the filmmaking duo Joel and Ethan Coen, often referred to simply as the “Coen Brothers.” I have selected the Coen Brothers’ cult classic The Big Lebowski (1998); Amy has picked their satirical comedy O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). Our thesis is this: humor, satire, and even bawdiness can be spiritually meaningful as well…To quote Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) in O Brother, Where Art Thou?: “Come on in…the water is fine!”
